Windfarm Inductions
Enerco Energy is one of Ireland's leading renewable energy developers and views solar energy as a growing alternative for electricity generation. Since 2000 we have utilized solar panels to provide a significant contribution towards our electricity demand at our headquarters (as shown in  the photo's below).

Solar energy is a free, inexhaustible resource, yet harnessing it is a relatively new idea. Solar energy comes in two forms, thermal and photovoltaic (PV). Thermal involves concentrating sunlight and converting it into heat as is common on most domestic roof systems. PV panels produce electricity directly without moving parts and are made from silicon, the second most abundant element in the Earth's crust. Power is produced when daylight strikes the semiconductor material and creates an electric current.
Enerco have been granted full planning permission and secured grid connections for a number of solar sites in Ireland. We anticipate that these projects will qualify for the next government renewable energy support scheme (RES) and consequently, we are awaiting this announcement before progressing. Once this is in place, installation of the solar arrays on these permitted sites will progress to construction and then operational stages.

Below is a visualisation of one of our permitted solar farms, which was the first solar farm permitted in Ireland, situated very close to our HQ in Lissarda, Cork.

Enerco Energy installed a solar array in 2000 as shown in the photo to the left which has provided valuable information regarding future solar siting. This long term data and research has given a greater understanding of solar energy.

PV solar power has many advantages that make it "one of the most promising renewable energy sources in the world." It is non-polluting, has no moving parts that could break down, requires little maintenance and no supervision, and has a life of 20-30 years with low running costs requiring no large scale installation. Remote areas can easily produce their own supply of electricity. Solar power generators are simply distributed to homes, schools, or businesses, where their assembly is simple and their function is safe and quiet. As communities grow, more solar energy capacity can be added, thereby allowing power generation to keep in step with growing needs.

Enerco believe that solar energy is becoming an increasingly economic choice as the technology gets cheaper and energy prices continue to increase and have a pipeline of sites at various stage of preparation for development across the country.

Enerco Energy installed the latest solar energy technology at their test site earlier this year (pictured left). Enerco's commitment to strive for new advances in technology will ensure that the future sites will have the most advanced technology.
